Come check this out…
I never should have gotten up and gone over.
Just what was I looking at?
A very large box of metal miniatures, a heaping pile of them, hundreds of them.
(320 to be exact.)
Necron raiders.
Immortals. Warriors. Scarabs. Lords.
That was the entire line of them at the dawn of the game.
Everybody at the club thought they were trying to pass something off, but they were correct.
This was how the army looked back in the day, and I remember seeing a few old boxes of the guys back at the comic store when we first started playing.
They were looking to sell it.
Complete, as is.
Probably the single largest classic Necron army still left in the game.
As a wargamer this was a very dangerous place for me to be.
I had just gotten paid and desperately needed to fix my twenty-year-old car.
I could probably put it off for another month if I drove under twenty MPH…
The army itself was never played.
They played Space Wolves as a Son of Russ, and they had planned to play a second army when they started picking up the Necron Raider boxes after that first White Dwarf issue featuring them.
A few boxes turned into a dozen or so boxes, and then the plastic line of warriors and the Monolith came out, they picked up the rest of the metal ones on deep discount.
It was time to part with them and resurrect them to a new tabletop...
