There they were, all different shapes, sizes, lengths and colors.
A couple of dozen light sabers laid across the folding table at the end of the hall.
When the hall opened and Jedi started to move to the table, I hung back with my friend so we could watch, as it really didn’t matter which saber we selected.
They weren’t all Jedi, there were also some Sith, noted a correction from my friend.
Jedi.
Sith.
That wasn’t what we were looking for.
We were observing for something beyond Jedi and Sith.
The ones who rushed to the table right away we could dismiss right away.
How was I sure?
Maybe one of them was hiding it that way?
Anything was possible and nothing was completely known until the quality of the person was discovered in that moment when they stood across from you.
Movement does not lie, and someone with the movement could hide it as part of a deception, but that was very difficult.
Seasons, decades or training to move without using the mind, without thinking becomes natural.
Once you hit half-a-million sword cuts, there was nowhere to hide.
But, there could be one among that first group even with such slim odds.
Next there were those who picked up a light saber based on looks, rather then what fit to the body.
Again, somebody beyond Jedi and Sith could adapt to the wrong length for the hand, but that would not be a first choice.
When the Jedi and Sith had sabers in hand what was the next observation?
Who just started swinging them around randomly?
Who want into some sort of force form or stance broadcasting to anybody watching?
Who just held their saber at their side.
This last group was going to be the biggest challenge.
A further observation.
Who in the group held the light saber as if it was a real weapon?
Who among that group held it with a training memory forgetting it was not just a toy pop.
With these observations, that is when we moved across the floor to make our selection.
Yes, the possibility that somebody could be watching us, but given the crowd and the timing the best we could do was keep that to a minimum.
We would have no way of knowing one hundred percent until that moment when we stood cross from a Jedi of Sith.
